Washacre Out of School Club

Here at Washacre OOSC we welcome children from Washacre Primary Academy to attend our breakfast and after school club.

Our breakfast club is open from 7:30am with an option to start from 8am. We provide a selection of hot and cold breakfast choices for your child to enjoy before a busy day at school.

Our after school club is open till 6pm, the children are collected from class where they are offered a hot or cold snack.

Throughout the school holidays we provide a fun filled holiday club at St. Bede’s Primary Academy. Children from other schools are welcome to attend. During the holidays we plan lots of exciting activities, themed weeks and trips.

I have 2 girls in After school club. To say they love it would be an understatement. When my youngest started Reception, school was very daunting and each morning she was so nervous going into school, except on the days she has after school club. When I get there early, I can’t get them out they are having too much fun making friends and playing games. The girls have a great bond with staff, especially Stacey and Janet. My youngest says she’s little Janet and Janet is big Janet, and she loves when Janet hugs her. They have a lovely bond, and I know my child feels safe whilst I’m at work. After school club has enabled the girls to make friends in other year groups and overall given them an extra boost of confidence. The food choices are good, and they have a great selection of activities to keep them busy. All the staff are friendly, fun approachable and keep in touch with me regularly regarding my children.

Such a great, caring and supportive team. My child enjoys attending breakfast and after school club, especially when they do crafts and playing outside in the warmer weather. The service provides me with peace of mind that I can attend work, and my son is cared for so well. Thank you, Katie.

Nikki Isherwood- OOSC Manager

Hello, I’m Nikki, the OOSCs Manager. I have worked in childcare for 22 years now and 18 of them have been within St Bede’s Childcare, I also manage Morris Green OOSC based at St Bede Primary Academy.

I have experience with children aged 0-11yrs old, throughout my career I have gained my NVQ levels 2, 3 & 4 in childcare along with a TA level 3 qualification. I have completed advanced Safeguarding, SENCO, Paediatric First Aid, Food Safety and many more training courses. I have two children Evie and Alfie who keep me busy at home and in my free time I love relaxing, listening to music, shopping and socialising with friends.

I am really looking forward to getting to know all the families within Washacre Primary School and providing your children with an exciting, safe, fun and friendly environment within the club.

Claire Dunn – Manager

Hi, I’m Claire, Manager at Washacre OOSC.

I am a qualified NNEB nursery nurse with over 25 years’ experience of working with children and families in many different settings.

I have training in Safeguarding, First Aid, Food Hygiene and Elklan speech & language.

I have two boys of my own and a little pug Lola whom I love to spend time with exploring new adventures, I enjoy cooking, crafts and DIY and I love to meet up with family and friends.

I am excited to get to know you and your family and to be joining St Bede’s Childcare.

Skye Cahill- Deputy Manager

Hello, I’m Skye, I am the Deputy Manager at Washacre OOSC.

I am a qualified NNB Nursery nurse with over 16 Years of experience.

I have training in Safeguarding, First Aid, Food Hygiene and lots more. Since 2013 I have had the privilege working at Washacre Primary Academy, I have met some amazing children and families.

My home life is very busy with to children a husband and our family pet dog Polly.

As a family we enjoy going on walks, swimming, gardening and spending time making lots of memories together.

I am very excited to meet and get to know you and your families when you join our amazing OOSC family.

Carrie Haslam – Playworker

Hi, my name is Carrie, and I started working at Washacre OOSC in September 2025, and I have also been a lunchtime supervisor at Washacre School for the last 15 years and I have qualifications in safeguarding, food hygiene, autism in girls and ADHD, child protection and many more. I have also for the last 18 years volunteer at a parent toddler group for 18 years which I recently gave up when my granddaughter was born. I have 4 children of my own who I love spending time with and do fun things together; I am really looking forward to meeting new children and parents in the coming future.

My son Mason really enjoys after school club. He always has a smile on his face when he’s collected and brings out various things that he’s created when he’s there. I think all the staff are excellent they are very caring and love to provide a fun environment for the children. I am very happy with the service they provide.

All the staff at the ASC are amazing in their own ways, they all go above and beyond to help when you need help from them, they are always engaging in conversations.

They all like to have a good laugh with the children and make sure they are all included. They are making a big difference, and it don’t go unnoticed on how well they are doing and how much support you get from them. Both me & Lori appreciate the warm and welcoming attitude you have towards us both. You are all a credit. Lori enjoys all the activities, especially when she gets to go outside.

My son attends the after-school club at Tonge moor school just want to say what a brilliant set of staff always going above and beyond for my child and his needs very patient with him and he always comes out with a smile 😊 The communication is brilliant with the staff they always keep me updated with pictures on the site and when picking up can’t thank you staff enough 😊
